In the Aftermath of ISIL: Community Projects for Gender-Based Violence Survivors and their Communities in Iraq
Iraq is currently facing great disturbance and great unrest, where people are being killed on the streets for demanding their basic rights. With the frustration of the youth and the people who do not have accountability, this is a pivotal moment where we need to build community projects that work towards peace, reconciliation and justice.
ISIL has left many devastated communities in Iraq and the victims are still waiting for justice and accountability. People want the right to truth and reconciliation. Community projects can become a powerful central event for this, to raise awareness, increase public recognition of ISIL crimes, promote accountability and encourage reintegration of the survivors within their communities.
